Jeffrey Moose Gallery opens the new year with a sale of select works from Mr. Moose's personal collection, "Dealer's Choice", featuring works from his 30 year history in the gallery business. The show, now on display, will open with a reception on First Friday, February 1st, from 6 to 8 PM and runs though February.

Works on display include a fourteen foot long "Scroll" painting by John Calvin Whyland, a Hawaiian painter, now deceased, a large offset print by well known Pop/Op artist Al Loving (also deceased) made for a Philadelphia awards ceremony, a group of pastel landscapes by Darlene Morgensen and Karen Schroeder, a rare Aboriginal dot painting by Pintupi artist Faith Butler, an unusual linocut by Aboriginal artist Arone Meeks and a detailed depiction of Salish and Plateau Native peoples trading by painter Choling Taha.

Mr. Whyland, of Chicago, was educated at The School of the Art Institute of Chicago, Fontainbleau School of Fine Art (where he was awarded a Gold Medal in painting by the French Government), University of The Americas, Mexico City and University of Hawaii. He painted and resided in Hawaii for most of his career and was represented there, in Seattle, Chicago, San Francisco, and San Diego.

Mr. Loving, of Detroit, was a well known Pop/Op artist whose career began in the late 60's. His first major show was a solo exhibition at the Whitney Museum . In spite of his Black skin, he rubbed shoulders with many of the AbEx and Pop artists of the day including Andy Warhol, Robert Raushenberg and Larry Rivers. Though his customer base was in New York City and Detroit, Mr. Loving showed twice at Jeffrey Moose Gallery and did workshops at Pratt Fine Art Center and Pilchuck Glass School, where he made his first works in glass.
